The study The Impact of Sleep Quality on Emotional Regulation and Mood Stability Among Working Professionals examined sleep quality, emotional regulation and mood stability among working professionals in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Within this sample, poorer sleep quality was associated with greater mood instability. An association does not establish cause and effect or imply that the result applies to everyone.

Understanding responses to stress.

When a situation feels threatening or overwhelming, people react in different ways. These labels are broad descriptions, not fixed personality types or diagnoses.

Fight

Move toward

Anger, confrontation or an urge to defend yourself may appear.

Flight

Move away

Withdrawal, avoidance or staying busy may create distance.

Freeze

Feel stuck

Thinking, deciding or acting may become temporarily difficult.

Fawn

Try to appease

Prioritising others may feel like a way to reduce conflict.

People may experience several responses. Behaviour alone cannot establish trauma or a diagnosis. For persistent difficulties, consider speaking with a qualified professional.
